For sale is a very nice antique early 1800s American bentwood Box with original red painted/stained surface. You can see that it is constructed using many irregular shaped hand wrought nails. Each nail is different in size and head shape.
This is a good indicator for really old bentwood box. The bentwood is very thick and well made compare to other pantry boxes I have seen. Amazing patina and very desirable size! It measures approximately 8" in diameter and 4" tall.
The box is in good antique condition with a few minor cracks near the nails on the bentwood. There are some age appropriate surface wear and imperfections but nothing serious. Please check photos from all sides for detailed condition. Overall, this is an exceptionally well-preserved early American folk art piece. It should not be missed by any serious collectors of early Americana/ antique wooden boxes/ antique primitives.
