This listing is for a pair of antique Old Paris mantel vases that are not only eye-catching, but meaningful. Thematically, these Victorian Era porcelain vases highlight the joys of friendship. In the stunning miniature compositions, two figures are portrayed while on a journey in each of the four pictorials. These hand-painted scenes tell a story of a quest that spans oceans and distant lands.

The characters, even though faceless, inspire nostalgia, as each of us carries kinship in our hearts for that special companion who has accompanied us through life. The sides of these breathtaking vessel are uniquely decorated with butterflies, and an array of vibrant flowers as well!

The artist demonstrated immense skill by employing meticulous attention to detail, even on such a diminutive scale. Each piece in this charming Old Paris pair is also trimmed with dark aqua enamel and raised gold overlay. The finely painted vignettes are framed in lustrous 24 karat gold and surrounded by gilt floral embellishments. The pieces also possess a fancy form that is typical of the Baroque or Rococo movements. Artist signed on the underside with the initials J.
