This old Japanese sword would make an important acquisition for any collection. This Japanese sword has a fine horimono carving of a mythical figure. This mythical figure is Bishamonten, one of the'Seven Lucky Gods' in Japanese mythology.
Bishamonten you can see is holding a sword. He is the god of fortunate warriors and guards. He is also known as the punisher of criminals. The reverse side of the blade also has two bohi grooves and a bonji character horimono.This sword is signed, and dated. The signature is Chikuzen no kami Nobuhide. The reverse side of the nakago is dated 1864. The blade measures 26 3/4 (68 cm) from the blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki.
