It was produced for the Ame ri can flour company Robin Hood Flour, originally based in Minnesota, but which would expand its reach to Iowa and then into C a na d a , where this porcelain sign was fashioned.
The sign was produced by the C a n ad i a n sign company Gurney Signs, C a na d a. The porcelain sign is square, measuring exactly 40" in height x 40" in width and is an original, baked enamel porcelain advertising sign, circa 1920 to 1938, produced in the period between WWI and WWII. The sign is a period one and not a knock-off or recent facsimile of an original, antique period sign.It's the real deal and as right as rain. The porcelain surfaces miraculously only suffer from some small, minor episodes of loss and subsequent oxidation. There are no dents, dings, deformities, enamel blow-outs or creases anywhere on the sign.
Some minor enamel loss occurs around the original brass grommets from the pressure applied to the enamel surfaces when previously mounted. Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
