A fine old or antique Islamic silver tray. With incised & carved decoration throughout including cartouches depicting poets or scholars reading and a festive scene with maidens dancing. The central cartouche is encircled with an Arabic inscription (and there in an inscription to the lower border element).

The remaining space is richly decorated with incised and carved decorations of birds, flowers & foliage, and Arabesque geometric designs. Signed to the reverse with a maker's mark & an 84 mark in Arabic for. Simply a wonderful Ottoman or Persian silver tray! Early to Mid 20th Century (or earlier). It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition.

There are some light bends, dings & indentations to the surface, and some persistent tarnish here & there. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. With an Arabic maker's mark and an 84 in Arabic for.
