Old Antique Vtg 20th C 1930s Folk Art Carved Wooden Hogs Pigs Head Butcher Shop

  

This offering is for an antique circa 1930's hand carved folk art wooden hogs head from a butchers shop. These were usually used as advertising signs in butchers shops.

12" from front to back and 16" across from ear tip to ear tip. The wood is fairly light, but it's hard and solid.

The figure was carved and then given an under coat of gesso before it was painted. The original paint is in place with minor wear and a pleasant untouched surface. There are a few small chips and high point wear but for the most part the condition is excellent.
