The subject matter of this work is Art Deco Style Dancing Nudes in a Landscape. The size of the block print only is 8 1/4 inches high by 5 3/4 inches across and the total paper size comes to 13 1/2 inches high by 9 inches across The block is hand signed by the artist in pencil in the lower right and numbered 2 of 50 impressions in the bottom center. As for condition , the paper had been taped down on the front on the margin's edge to a piece of old cardboard. The paper was not glued down. There is a 1/2 inch wide band of old brown paper tape in the far edges of all four margins.

There are also two old tape hinges in the upper right and left corners. We cut the tape on three sides so the work is only held down to the cardboard now by a thin piece of paper along the top edge. There is a very pale light yellow sun toning of the margins that were visible inside the old mat but not too major. There are no tears to the paperand the paper is very flexible and pliable and not brittle. Denny Sonke Winters is listed in many published books including Who Was Who in American Art and Davenport's Art Reference and Price Guide. She studied art locally here in Chicago at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. She spent time at the Woodstock Art Colony in New York and in Mexico prior to World War II. She later spent time in California. Her early works such as this one are very desirable to collectors, though most pieces that have come to market have been her transitional modernistic pieces post 1950s.
