1920 Japanese saw or nokogiri was made by a Japanese master blade maker over 100 years ago. It is the type of timber saw used in woodworking and Japanese carpentry that cuts on the pull stroke, unlike European saws which cut on the push stroke.
This allows it to have. A thinner blade that cuts more efficiently and leaves a narrower cut width (kerf)(see picture 8). Made of a high quality. Carbon steel and carefully milled by hand by the Japanese master blade maker whose signature is deeply etched on the blade (see picture 7).
This Anahiki-nokogiri crosscut saw was used to cut logs or large beams and has a slightly curved row of teeth (see picture 9 & 10) to that every tooth can touch the wood without slipping on sawdust. The overall length (including handle) is 33" (84 cm), with a blade length (teeth area) of 15 1/2" (38 cm) by 2 3/4 thick (7 cm). This timber nokogiri saw has a slightly darkened aged patina. It remains overall in fine condition throughout, as seen in the enlarged pictures.
The teeth are still sharp and cuts through most woods with ease. A rare piece of character and quality from over a century past. The thickness of this blade helped to create a straight "rip" cut down the length of a log. You'll love it, I guarantee it.
